Market Background

Auto export of Turkey spreads 167 countries and 14 free trade zone of five continents. Total export volume of entire cars has reached USD 11.3 billion, including USD 9 billion from European Union (except Cyprus) , non-European Union reached USD 2.3 billion. About half export volume (USD 5.6 billion) is from Germany, Italy, France and UK. The three largest import commodities are minerals, electromechanical products, alkali metal and products, total import volume (January to September, 2012) is USD 100.19, accounting for 56.8% of total volume.

According to Turkish statistics bureau, in the past January to September, 2012, the bilateral import and export trade volume was USD 17.67 billion, down 3.7%. Turkish export trade volume to China was USD 1.96 billion, 10.9% increase, accounting for 1.7% of the total volume, the same level year on year; Turkish import trade volume from China was USD 15.71 billion, down 5.3%, accounting for 8.9% of the total volume year on year, 0.2% lower than last year. The trade deficit between Turkey and China amounted to USD 13.76 billion, down 7.2%, accounting for 21.7% of total deficit year on year. Until September, China has become the fourteenth largest export market and the second largest source of import.
